Improving Wildlife Health: WOAH’s resource mobilisation efforts for sustainability.
WOAH’s resource mobilisation core hypothesis is: continued funding is dependent on positive return on investment. WOAH’s Wildlife Health Framework is no exception. The first wave of funding into the WHF has reaped many results, including strengthening wildlife networks, designing new information systems, and producing new and timely guidelines, thereby meriting re-investment. However, WOAH’s traditional donors often prioritise other topics over wildlife health as a critical area to effectively improve animal health. Advocacy on the cost/benefit of investing in wildlife health will drive future resource mobilisation efforts. WOAH will complement funding using other parallel mechanisms.
