In May 2017, Chantal Girard, a final-year US veterinary student, spent four weeks in Oshana, Namibia studying and working alongside teams on the frontlines of rabies surveillance, prevention, and intervention as part of the National Rabies Control Strategy. Through collaboration with Dr Rauna Athingo (National Rabies Coordinator of Namibia), she was able to investigate the clinical, sociological, and public health implications of international veterinary medicine and the critical role it plays in rabies eradication across species.
