Established in 2013, the OIE PPR Vaccine Bank facilitates the purchase and delivery of high-quality vaccines against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) for sheep and goats to OIE Members under negotiated conditions. 

In 2021, the OIE launched a call for tender to renew the suppliers of its PPR Vaccine Bank. 

After a transparent and competitive procurement process, the following manufacturers and vaccines have been selected to supply the Vaccine Bank: 

• MCI Santé Animale (Morocco):
  • freeze-dried live attenuated PPR virus vaccine, strain Nigeria 75/1, OVIVAX PPR vaccine, in 50 and 100 dose vials 
• Consortium Hester:
  • Hester Biosciences Nepal PVT. LTD (Nepal):
    • freeze-dried live attenuated PPR virus vaccine, strain Nigeria 75/1 in 25 doses, 50 doses and 100 doses vials
    • thermotolerant freeze-dried live attenuated PPR virus vaccine, strain Nigeria 75/1 in 25 doses, 50 doses and 100 doses vials
  • Hester Biosciences LTD (India):
    • freeze-dried live attenuated PPR virus vaccine, strain Sungri/96 in 25 doses, 50 doses and 100 doses vials

The diluent is provided by the suppliers in correspondence with the number of doses purchased. 

The OIE has signed contracts with these two companies for an initial duration of 4 years, from 2022 to 2025. 

Thanks to this new phase of the OIE PPR Vaccine Bank, the OIE will continue to support its Members in reaching the international objective of PPR eradication by 2030.
